About Newtonmore

Newtonmore is a friendly village set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands and Cairngorms National Park. Rugged mountains, lush valleys and ancient Caledonian pine forests make the area a walker’s paradise.

Discover Highland history at the Clan MacPherson Museum. It charts the legacy of the famous MacPherson clan and features exhibits on everything from ancient folklore to World War II. Learn about the importance of family tartans and view an enormous set of bagpipes.

The Wildcat Trail circles the village and treats you to stunning views over the Monadhliath Mountains and Cairngorms National Park. Follow the waymarked trail along the banks of the River Spey and past a tumbling waterfall. Multiple access points make it easy to walk the entire trail or shorter sections.

Get up close with Eurasian elk, European bison, Northern lynx and Arctic polar bears at the Highland Wildlife Park. The family-friendly zoo and safari park is home to hundreds of animals that live in mountain and tundra biomes.
